Dr. Mekdes Tadele Woldeyohannes is a legal professional with over 13 years of experience in teaching in higher education institutions, conducting researches, and providing capacity-building training. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor of Law at the School of Law and Federalism, Ethiopian Civil Service University, where she offers International Environmental Law and Comparative Environmental Law courses for postgraduate students. Mekdes began her academic career at Bahir Dar University in 2005. While she was working as a lecturer at the university, she coordinated a project that provided free legal aid services for the disadvantaged group of the community.

Mekdes holds a Ph.D. in law from the University of Warwick (United Kingdom), LL.M in International Business Law and Globalization from Utrecht University (the Netherlands), and LL.B from the Faculty of Law of Addis Ababa University. Her research interests include participatory environmental governance, corporate social responsibility, and gender equality. She published in the area of environmental regulation and co-authored a book entitled “Gender and the Law”.
