Pollution Advisor
Getachew holds an MSc in Environmental Pollution and Risk Assessment from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and is a seasoned professional in the fields of soil and water management, climate-smart agriculture, and food security and livelihood programs. He has substantial experience in Ethiopia and throughout the wider East Africa. Getachew is passionate about the interplay between research and real-world problems that improve human lives and the environment. His interest lies in environmental sustainability, and he is actively engaged in initiatives that aim to raise awareness about environmental concerns in Ethiopia. Getachew is pursuing his PhD at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. His research focuses on land-use change from traditional agriculture to short-term rotation forestry, and its implications on environmental sustainability with a particular focus on carbon sequestration and climate change, soil quality, and catchment water balance. He uses various methods to answer his research questions, including remote sensing, soil and biomass sampling, and different modeling techniques.
